Hi everyone! I'm Michelle Lee, the Education & Career Guidance (ECG) Counsellor attached to PJC every Thursday. If you do not know already, ECG is the process of guiding a person in making an informed decision about his or her future education and career choices.

 

Basically, it involves answering these questions: - Who am I? (For instance, what are my Values, Interests, Personality and Skills that can translate to some future education and career options) - Where am I going? (What are the education and career options that I’m considering based on what I know of myself) - How do I get there? (What are the actionable steps that I can take to help me reach my goals)

 

When I was your age I didn't know what I wanted to study in University as I had no clue as to what I wanted to do as a career. In the end I graduated with a Bachelors in Mass Communications, worked a few years, took the M.Sc. in Information Studies and worked some more. I've worked in both private and public sectors and my last role was as the Global Content Lead in Social Media Marketing at Lenovo. You may ask why ECG Counselling now?

 

Well, it is precisely because I didn't have proper guidance during my youth that I went on a really long and meandering career path for so many years. The world is changing; the education landscape and demands from the workplace are also constantly evolving. Hence I am here to help guide you through this changing landscape so that you can make informed choices in order to achieve your goals - be it in your higher education or career.
